What to pack for Medellín's two seasons
Quick answer
Medellín doesn't really have summer/winter — it has 'dry-ish' and 'wet-ish.' Pack for both in the same bag: light layers plus one real rain shell.
The actual list
- Layers over heavy items — mornings and evenings run cooler than the daytime temperature suggests.
- One real rain shell, not just an umbrella — afternoon showers are common and sudden.
- Comfortable walking shoes with grip — Poblado and Laureles both have steep, uneven sidewalks.
What you don’t need
Skip the beachwear unless you’re also routing through the coast. Medellín itself is a city trip, not a resort trip.
The honest caveat
A lot of packing lists for Colombia are written for the coast, not the Andes — Medellín at 1,500m is cooler at night than people expect. You will want a light jacket.
